This series of paintings uses only shades of black and white. In reducing the color palette so dramatically, I concentrated my focus on form, structure, and image dynamics. It gave me a new way to showcase the elemental forms of square, triangle and circle.
Each of the first three paintings is accompanied by a poem. The three poems together form a new poem. The fourth painting in the series ("Kyrie") provides the endpoint of this exploration. It is a nod back to the earlier tree series, now re-examined through the lense of the cross symbol.
